English Language Placement Assessment

All international students applying for entry to Murdoch College and who do not have an IELTS score are required to sit the English Language Placement Assessment.

The English Language Assessment accurately determines if a student requires English language instruction prior to gaining entry to Murdoch College. The number of weeks of English will vary depending on the student's results in the English Language Assessment. Students who reach Murdoch College's entry score requirement will be granted direct entry to the College.

The assessment consists of a writing, reading, comprehension and multiple choice grammar section and takes one hour and 20 minutes to complete.

Students are able to complete the assessment in their home country, at one of Murdoch's Agent Representative's offices. Students should be aware that the following conditions must be strictly followed:
  • Assessments must be supervised by an agent or nominated representative of the College
  • Assessment venue must be a quiet place away from distractions
  • No notes, dictionaries or translators may be used
  • No mobile phones may be used

Completed assessments can be scanned to the Admissions Registrar. The Director of Studies will assess the completed assessment and a study recommendation will be forwarded to the student's Agent.
