The College has a Homestay Placement service for international, interstate and rural students who require assistance with accommodation for the duration of their studies at Murdoch College. This service is unique to the College and is an integral part of the life of the College.
The Homestay program is administered by a dedicated team who work closely with the Student Support network at the College. The families in the program meet rigorous selection criteria and become part of the College community.
For International students, living in homestay with a local family is a culturally enriching experience for international students. It is also a requirement of the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) as part of the Student Visa conditions.
For students transferring from rural Western Australia, interstate, or overseas, homestay provides a sound and secure homebase, enabling students to adjust to College life and the city within a friendly family environment.
Students who are over 18 years of age may, subject to their parent’s approval, live independently either in the family home or in rented accommodation which includes apartments, houses or hostel accommodation.
The Student Services Manager will provide the contact telephone numbers and websites of local real estate agents, who will help you to find a suitable property to rent. The Student Services Officer will also provide information on your legal rights and obligations as a tenant in Western Australia.Students requiring further information should contact the Student Services Manager.
