Murdoch effort to help Rwanda trauma

On 7 April 2009, 22 Middle School students joined in the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the terrible atrocities that occurred in Rwanda in 1994. This allowed students to develop their human rights awareness raising active citizenship experience further.

Murdoch University has established strong links with Rwanda through Professor Craig McGarty and other researchers who have been involved in recording survivor's stories and facilitating trauma counselling skills for Rwandan people.

Students participated in a minute silence at noon, lit candles in memory of those who lost their lives and Cormac O'Brien (Year 7) gave a message of hope for the people of Rwanda.
