Gifted and Talented Program

Murdoch College and Murdoch University believe that children who are gifted or talented should receive an education commensurate with their abilities. The Murdoch College Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program offers an exciting and challenging learning environment for students in the middle years (years 7, 8 and 9) and senior years (years 10-12) of secondary education.

At Murdoch College individual differences are accommodated through the application of student centred learning approaches, supported by innovative structures and professional educators.

Through a range of integrated or differentiated learning experiences, the College provides educational journeys that meet the specific needs of the gifted and talented students alongside other academically focused students.

In the senior years, GATE students are challenged through the selection of appropriate courses of study, access to Murdoch University Foundation and Introductory units and the opportunity to participate in a range of enrichment and extra-curricular programs.

Through an integrated and differentiated learning experience the College delivers a broad range of challenging programs to GATE students including:
  • Independent Learning Projects
  • Mentorships
  • Challenges in curriculum areas
  • Murdoch University units
  • Principal's Honour Roll
  • Murdoch Integrated Learning Experience (MILE)
  • Enrichment seminars and workshops
