Murdoch College - Computing Facilities

Computing Facilities

Murdoch College has a focus on computing and information and communications technologies. The college provides dedicated computing laboratories, as well as numerous computers and laptops, in the general learning areas and the Library and Resource Centre. The computing laboratories are also used for formal computer studies in which students become competent in a wide range of computing applications.

The College is supported by a wireless network allowing students and academic staff to access the shared drives and complete work from anywhere on campus.

Computers and laptops in the general learning areas are available for use as teaching aids and for small group work during normal classes, or for demonstration purposes when this is appropriate. Individual students may choose to use the computers and laptops to extend their personal learning either in curriculum areas or in areas of special interest.

Students can also use the computing facilities offered in the Library and elsewhere to support their research for major assignments and for examination preparation. They may also participate in Internet discussions and debates with students around the world in topics of common interest, further developing their concepts and understanding of globalisation.
