Teacher Advisor System

At Murdoch College all students are a member of a small Teacher Advisor Group that is led by a member of the College's Academic Staff. The purpose of the Teacher Advisor Group (TAG) is to provide a supportive and caring environment to enhance each student's academic, personal and social development and to ensure personal contact is maintained with students and their parents. Guidance, encouragement of a sense of belonging, planning, and the monitoring of the personal, academic and social developments of our students is considered a major responsibility of all staff at Murdoch College.

Upon entry to Murdoch College, each student is assigned to a multi-year level Teacher Advisor Group (TAG). It is the role of the Teacher Advisor to get to know the student well and to help the student to plan and coordinate their college experience. The Teacher Advisor acts as a support person for the student whilst they are a member of the TAG.

The Teacher Advisor System:
  • Facilitates communication within the College and between the college and the community.
  • Provides day-to-day contact among advisors and students for the purpose of long-term academic, social, emotional and career guidance for all students.
  • Opens and maintains a regular parent-teacher-student channel of communication for the exchange of ideas and information as required.
  • Develops happier, more self-reliant and committed young people by providing direction when and where it is needed.
